Support Nonpublic Education!
Governor Walz proposed his two-year budget, which includes a provision that would eliminate nonpublic pupil aid and nonpublic transportation aid, funding that directly supports vital services like textbooks, health services and technology as well as busing at St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School.
To provide context, our local public school district, Brainerd School District 181 receives approximately $122,000 in nonpublic aid from the state each year to support programs and services for St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School. Without these funds, our school community would face significant challenges which could impact the quality and accessibility of the faith-based education we provide. Eliminating these funds not only threatens the affordability of Catholic education but also disregards the contributions we make to the broader educational landscape.
We encourage you to contact your State Representative and urge them to oppose the elimination of nonpublic pupil and transportation aid. A brief message expressing your support for nonpublic funding and its importance to your family and community can make a significant impact. Your voice can help ensure that St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School continues to thrive and serve as a beacon of faith and academic excellence for generations to come.
