St Francis of the Lakes Catholic School VEX IQ Robotics
Here’s to another fantastic Robotics season! We started our 2022-2023 season 7 teams made up of 2 middle school and 5 elementary teams.
· Team A – The Baconators: Joe Junkert, Evan Mielke, Max Wehseler and Levi Wolff
· Team B – The Royal Chihuahuas: Cam Esser, Shawn and Connor Marcussen
· Team C – The Dream Team: Piper Burke, Annabelle Didier, Gemma Dobosenski and Irene Steinhauser
· Team D – The Lucky Duckies: Jack Krebsbach, Miles Mehr and Henry Torfin,
· Team E – The Derpy Turtles: Vinnie Buffetta, Grayson Davis, Carter Menzel and Fletcher Scofield,
· Team F – Fire Thunder Dogs: Karsten Bahl, Kit Scofield and Isaac Wehseler
· Team G – Dominators: Vincent Baratto, Max Laube, Lane Mielke and Brandon Olstad
Our 2022-2023 Season started in October with 25 students. The students watched this season’s game: Slapshot and went to work designing and building their robots. Our first competition happened on December 10th in Kimball, MN. Each team competed in 3 competitions (Kimball, Ramsey and Thief River Falls) with 6 of our 7 teams qualified for the MN State VEX IQ Competition at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center on March 4, 2023. During the course of this season 3 teams qualified for the CREATE U.S. Open in Council Bluffs, IA March 27-29th and one getting an invitation to 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas April 30- May 2nd.

Team A: 2nd place in competition (invite to US Open)
Team B: 1st place in competition, Excellence Award (invite to US Open)
12/29 – PACT ES/EM Holiday Hoedown
Team A: 1st place in competition with Team B, 2nd place in Skills
Team B: 1st place in competition, 1st place Skills Award, Excellence Award
Team E: 2nd place in competition (invite to US Open)
1/28 – Kimball Super Mega ES/MS VEX IQ Slapshot (only ES participated)
Team D: 2nd place in competition
Team F: 3rd in competition
2/11 – Thief River Falls Extravaganza
Team B: 2nd place in competition, Excellence Award
3/4 –MN State VEX IQ Championship
Team B: 1st place in competition (invite to Worlds)
Our students journaled, explained and displayed their creations, ideas and programs to the tournament judges with pride. They learned how to manage their time, work well under pressure, and above all exhibit good sportsmanship which is just as important as winning.
