2022 CREATE US Open Robotics Championship Outcomes
These kids have worked so hard this year and have made us beyond proud of their accomplishments! We spent Monday - Wednesday competing in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the 2022 CREATE US Open Robotics Championship with some of the top ranking teams in the world and have come home with new friends and some amazing scores!
This competition was an 'invitation only' and there were 48 teams throughout the US, Canada and Kazakhstan (42 showed up). Our kids were teamed up with some of the best teams in the World and brought their 'A games'. Kids ran skills on Monday, qualifying rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a 'super-mega alliance challenge' Tuesday afternoon (a few silly challenges where our kids connected with 3 other teams and got to kick back and have fun). Top 30 teams were invited to finals and with 15 rounds here's how we ended our adventure:
Team A (Logan Olstad, Max Wehseler, Joe Junkert, Levi Wolff) ranked 25th throughout the competition with an average of 110 points and ended in 12th place with 'The Glitched Cybercats' out of Phoenix AZ with a final score of 112
Team B (Shawn and Connor Marcussen, Cam Esser) was ranked 3rd throughout the competition with an average of 141.25 points per game. They placed 4th in competition with 'Magikid Lab Frisco (The Mucci Gang)' from Frisco, TX with a final score of 158
We were lucky enough to have some amazing kids and amazing sponsors who helped make it possible for our kids to go compete: Thank you to all our sponsors but especially our major US Open sponsors; Chef Mike 's Catering (Brainerd, MN) and American Institute of Nondestructive Testing (Baxter, MN). Also we appreciate our friends, family and our Church community for blessing us and supporting our kids and giving them this opportunity. YOU guys made this possible - THANK YOU!!
