Dear St. Francis School Parents,

As we look forward to ending the 2020-2021 school successfully (and in-person) and anxiously waiting for summer break, we also look to the future with the 2021-2022 school years at St. Francis Catholic School. The School Board has approved the 2021-2022 St. Francis Catholic School Calendar and I would like to explain a few changes that have been made.

Since St. Francis School Calendar is closely dictated by the Brainerd Public School ISD 181 calendar due to various shared services (transportation, food services, nursing,  etc.), it was taken into consideration when our school calendar was decided.

You may notice a few changes that BPS has included on their calendar such as, more “Inservice – No School” days, no “Snow Make-Up Days”, and the addition of a “Spring Break”.  You may also have noticed that BPS only has Holy Friday off for Easter.  St. Francis School has made some alternative decisions based on what is best for our school, students, and families. Please note:

Inservice Day – St. Francis School and BPS will not have school in session for students these days and this will be time for teachers and staff training, professional development, and/or faith formation (Catechetical Day). These days are 10/1, 11/29, 1/17, and 3/4.

Snow Day – BPS is holding “Distant Learning Days” in the place of Snow Make-Up Days being built into the school calendar. St. Francis school will continue to have traditional “snow days” in which students do not have school.  Staff is still required to report as appropriate.

Spring Break – For the past two years, BPS and St. Francis, have not had spring breaks in the calendar due to the construction on the district school buildings and the need to begin construction early.  The 21-22 school calendar now includes it on March 14-18, 2022.

Easter Break – St. Francis Catholic School celebrates Holy Week and has added Holy Thursday 4/14 and Easter Monday 4/18 to the school calendar for Easter Break.

Please review the 2021-2022 St. Francis Catholic School Calendar and plan any appointments and/or vacations accordingly. It has been attached to this message and will be posted on the school’s website as well.

I hope you are enjoying the spring weather as we continue our journey towards the end of the current school year! If you have questions or concerns, please contact me.

Thank you and God Bless,
